The project
Project overview
The homeowners had lived with a cramped galley kitchen and a half-wall that cut the room off from the dining area for fifteen years. They wanted one open space, more counter, and a real island they could seat four people at. We started with a free in-home estimate and a written, fixed-bid scope — no allowances left vague. After selections were locked, we demoed to the studs, coordinated licensed plumbing and electrical rough-ins for the relocated sink and new island circuits, and passed village inspection before any finish work began. Semi-custom shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, a full-height tile backsplash, and new recessed and pendant lighting went in over the back half of the schedule. We refinished the existing red-oak floors to tie the new layout into the rest of the first floor. One crew, one point of contact, start to finish.

Kitchen Remodel in Libertyville, IL
Libertyville's older central neighborhoods — around the historic downtown and Cook Memorial Park — are full of homes from the 1950s through the 1980s with the closed-off kitchen layouts that were standard when they were built. Opening those walls is the single most-requested remodel we run in this part of Lake County. Because these homes are older, we plan for surprises behind the plaster — out-of-date wiring, undersized supply lines, the occasional load-bearing wall where you didn't expect one — and we price the structural and licensed-trade work honestly up front rather than burying it in change orders. Libertyville is about 35 minutes from our Crystal Lake shop, well inside our Lake County service area.
From the homeowner
“They tore out a wall we'd hated for fifteen years and the whole back of the house feels twice as big now. The bid we signed was the price we paid — every change was written down and explained before anyone touched anything. Crew was clean, on time, and the island is exactly what we asked for.”
