Woodstock's defining feature is the historic square and the surrounding pre-1920 housing — Victorians, foursquares, big front porches. These homes have plaster walls, original wood trim worth preserving, and old electrical and plumbing that's been patched in pieces over a century. Outside the historic core you've got mid-century ranches and 1990s–2010s subdivisions east toward Bull Valley Road and south toward Route 47. Repair work on the older stock is more careful — match trim profiles, work around lath and plaster, respect the original character.

Yes — and carefully. Historic district homes often have lath-and-plaster walls, original wood trim with custom profiles, and old electrical that needs respect. We match what's there rather than replacing it with builder-grade. Some exterior work in the historic district requires committee approval — we'll tell you up front if your project does.
Can you match a 1910 trim profile?
Most of the time, yes. We bring a sample to a local millwork shop for a custom run if needed. The labor is the same; the materials cost is higher than stock big-box trim.
What about old plaster walls?
Patching plaster takes a different compound than regular drywall — bonding plaster and setting-type joint compound. We do plaster patches; we'll tell you up front it's a multi-visit job because the compound dries slower than drywall mud.
Do you handle the newer subdivisions east of town too?
Yes. Apple Creek, Olde Mill Ponds, Tappan — all the post-1990 builds. Most of that work is faster and cheaper than the historic stock because the materials are standard.
How long is the drive from Crystal Lake?
About 22 minutes via Route 14. We schedule Woodstock visits in batches when we can to keep the truck-roll cost down.
