Process

How a aging-in-place safety visit goes.

  1. 1

    Phone and photo review

Share the rooms, obstacles, and any recommendations from an occupational therapist so we can identify what fits our handyman scope.

  2. 2

    Plan and propose

Written list of recommended upgrades with priced line items. You decide what to do and when.

  3. 3

    Install

Stud-locate, blocking where needed, hardware to spec. Most installs are a half-day visit.

  4. 4

    Walk-through

Test every grab bar with full body weight. Show you how to use anything new.

Frequently asked questions

Can grab bars go into drywall?
No. A grab bar anchored only to drywall will pull out the first time someone leans on it hard. We anchor into a stud, or open the wall and add solid wood blocking, then patch the drywall. The cost difference is $145 vs $285 per bar — worth it.
Do you do free assessments?
The initial phone and photo review is free. If an on-site assessment is needed, we explain the scope and any charge before scheduling it.
Will Medicare or insurance cover any of this?
Coverage and assistance programs vary by plan, eligibility, and current agency rules. Ask the insurer, care coordinator, occupational therapist, or relevant public agency before assuming an upgrade is covered; we can provide a written scope for their review.
Can you make a bathroom safer without a full remodel?
Often, yes. Properly anchored grab bars, non-slip treads, lever hardware, and a clear threshold can improve day-to-day safety without changing the room layout. We price only the items that fit our documented handyman scope.
What about stair lifts?
We don't install stair lifts — they require a manufacturer-trained tech and a track system specific to the brand. We'll refer you to a local installer and we can handle any prep work like railings or trim adjustments.
Do you work with occupational therapists?
If an occupational therapist has provided a recommendation list, share it with the request. We can price the items that fit our documented handyman scope and flag anything that needs a specialty installer.
