Two guys. 25+ years of craftsmanship. Nearly two decades of running home service businesses. One shared belief: homeowners deserve better.
Meet Josh
Josh has spent 25 years with a tool in his hand. He started out working for a handyman business, moved on to installing windows and shower doors, and really cut his teeth under a full-service home remodeling contractor.
For the last decade-plus he's run his own remodeling company, taking on everything from kitchens and bathrooms to the jobs most contractors won't touch — removing load-bearing walls and re-engineering the structure, lifting and leveling settled homes, and full gut remodels.
His strongest lane is hands-on repair and carpentry: diagnosing what failed, making a clean fix, and knowing when a job needs a different specialist. The design sense he's built from 25 years of seeing what works — and what doesn't — is the kind of thing you can't fake.
Meet Tim
Tim has been running home service businesses since 2008. His side of the table is the part most tradespeople don't love: customer service, marketing, recruiting, finance, and the systems that make a business actually run.
After nearly two decades of building and operating service companies across northern Illinois, he knows how to turn good work into a good business — the kind that shows up on time, communicates clearly, and stands behind every job.
How Built Solid Happened
Josh and Tim met when Tim hired Josh to remodel an investment property. One project turned into the next, and they've been working together ever since.
When Josh came to Tim with the idea of starting a handyman business — one built on the craftsmanship of a real remodeler, backed by the systems and customer experience of a real operator — Tim was in immediately.
That's how Built Solid Home Serviceswas born: a handyman and remodeling company with a builder's skill set and an operator's attention to the customer.

Clear scope before work starts
Built Solid Home Services LLC has two core residential lines: handyman repairs and punch-list visits, plus full kitchen, bathroom, basement, and whole-home remodeling. Deck care and small commercial maintenance remain focused specialties. Before work begins, we confirm what is included, what the customer is responsible for, and any known permit, engineering, or outside-trade dependencies.
We do not offer stand-alone plumbing or electrical service as handyman work. When a remodeling scope depends on licensed trades, permits, engineering, or another specialty approval, the written plan identifies that dependency and who is responsible before the affected work begins.
