About Cary

Cary homes — what we see most.

Cary's housing is a mix — older village core north of Route 14 with 1940s–1970s ranches, Trout Valley's larger custom homes on wooded lots, and 1990s–2010s subdivisions south and east. Trout Valley specifically has a lot of cedar siding, real-wood trim, and wooded-lot moisture issues that drive deck and exterior work. Fox Trails and Foxford Hills are typical post-1990 production builds.

Ten minutes from our shop down Route 14. Cary is one of the most reliable repeat-customer markets we work in — homeowners here tend to stay in their homes longer and accumulate a list of small jobs.

From Cary customers

What Cary homeowners say.

Our gutters were pulling away from the fascia on the north side of the house. They replaced the rotted section, rehung the gutters, and painted to match. You'd never know it was repaired.

Frequently asked — Cary

Do you work on Trout Valley homes?
Yes. Trout Valley homes tend to have more cedar exterior, real-wood trim, and wooded-lot moisture issues — more rot repair, more deck refinishing, more gutter work than the average subdivision. We're set up for it.
Can you handle 1950s-era ranches in the older village core?
Yes. Mid-century ranches usually have the original galvanized plumbing, fuse-panel-converted electrical, and plaster-over-rock-lath walls. We do fixture-level work and work around the older mechanicals; we don't pull old galvanized lines because that's a re-piping job.
Is Cary's permit office tough?
Cary's typical for a McHenry County village. Standard residential permits move in 1–2 weeks. We submit on your behalf.
Do you do work in subdivisions with HOAs?
Yes. Foxford Hills, Cary-Grove, and others have HOA rules for exterior work — color, materials, and sometimes contractor licensing. We comply.
How fast can you get here?
Ten minutes. Frequently same-day.
