Frequently asked questions
Do I need egress windows?
Only if you're creating a bedroom. Entertainment rooms, home offices, and exercise spaces are fine with existing windows.
What if my basement takes water?
Fix the water problem first. Sump pump, exterior grading, waterproofing. Finishing a basement that still takes water is a waste of money.
How long does a basement finish take?
Plan on 6–10 weeks for a typical basement. The timeline depends on whether we're adding a bathroom (plumbing rough-in and inspection adds time), how much electrical is involved, and how fast the village schedules inspections.
Do I need a permit to finish my basement?
Yes, in virtually every Northern IL municipality. Framing, electrical, and plumbing all need inspections. We pull the permit, submit plans, and coordinate every inspection so you don't have to deal with the village yourself.
What's included in the price?
Framing, insulation, drywall, paint, trim, flooring, and electrical through licensed subs. Plumbing for a bathroom is additional. Egress windows, if needed for a bedroom, are quoted separately because they involve exterior excavation.
